CAF lists only Abuja, Uyo stadia for continental matches

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the list of approved stadia for its organised matches, including the Champions League and Confederation Cup competitions.

Nigeria has only two stadia on the list — the M.K.O. Abiola Stadium, Abuja, and the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

South Africa has the highest number of approved stadia with 13, followed by Morocco with 10, while Algeria has nine.

Six stadia were approved for Ivory Coast, five each for Cameroon, Egypt, and Mali, while DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Uganda, and Tunisia have three each.

Just like Nigeria, only two stadia were approved in Ethiopia, Libya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, and Senegal, while Ghana, Kenya, and Zanzibar each have only one approved stadium.

The implication is that none of the quartet — Remo Stars, Rivers United, Kwara United, and Abia Warriors — will play their continental matches on home soil. All of them will have to settle for either Abuja or Uyo.
