CCB Chair Abdullahi Bello vows to uphold integrity, combat corruption

Abdullahi Bello, the newly appointed Chair of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), has pledged to restore the integrity of Nigeria’s public service and ensure accountability among public officials.

Bello made this commitment after being sworn in by President Bola Tinubu during Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

In his remarks, Bello emphasized that the CCB, under his leadership, would focus on combating corruption and promoting ethical conduct among public servants.

He stated that the bureau would intensify efforts to ensure that public officials adhere to high standards of integrity in line with the agency’s mandate.

“The Code of Conduct Bureau was the first anti-corruption agency in Nigeria, and I intend to deliver on the bureau’s mandate,” he said.

“It’s about making sure that people in public service—public servants—conduct themselves with integrity, avoid corruption, and prevent conflicts of interest.

“The aim is integrity and accountability; these are the duties I will deliver on.

“I always say that it’s not about where you are located—everyone has the tendency to be corrupt.

“One of the most important things is having systems in place to check corruption.

“If we have these systems in Nigeria, we will tackle this problem. I assure you, with the right systems and institutions in place, we only need to deliver on our mandate, and everything will be all right.”
