CHAN: Home-based Eagles intensify Training as more players arrive in Ikenne

Five additional players have joined the home-based Super Eagles camp in Ikenne as preparations continue for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

The team’s media officer, Promise Efoghe, confirmed the new arrivals on Tuesday. The players are Musa Zayad (El-Kanemi Warriors), Aminu Adam (Kano Pillars), Anas Yusuf (Nasarawa United), Godwin Obaje (Rivers United), and Kabiru Mohammed (Kwara United).

Their arrival brings the number of players in camp to 26. All 26 players participated in Tuesday evening’s training session, which was supervised by head coach Eric Chelle.

The home-based squad is undergoing intensive training as they aim for a strong showing at the regional tournament, which features players solely from domestic leagues across Africa.

Nigeria qualified for the 2025 CHAN by defeating regional rivals Ghana, marking their return to the tournament after missing the last three editions.

The Super Eagles have been drawn into Group D alongside Congo, Senegal, and Sudan. They will open their campaign against Senegal on August 5.

The 2025 CHAN tournament will kick off on August 2. Hosts Tanzania will face Burkina Faso in the opening match.

Other opening fixtures include Kenya against DR Congo, Morocco against Angola, and Madagascar facing Mauritania, all scheduled for August 3.
