Chinese Ambassador in Ekiti as Fayemi seeks support on knowledge zone

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has welcomed Ambassador of China to Nigeria, Mr. Cui Jianchun to the state.

Fayemi expressed his delight to receive the Ambassador in Ado Ekiti in company of the Director General, Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC), Professor Yusuf Ahmed and experts from China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC).

According to the governor in a Facebook post on Wednesday, the Chinese Ambassador’s delegation is in the state to undertake a feasibility study on Ekiti State Knowledge Zone and how to further partner with the state for sustainable development.

Fayemi wrote: “This delegation is in our dear state for the feasibility study of the Ekiti Knowledge Zone and technological collaboration to jumpstart the use of nuclear science and technology in developing critical sectors such as agriculture, health, biotechnology, and education.

“Our administration is designing the Ekiti Knowledge Zone to take advantage of technology for scientific research, industrialisation, and innovative services, as well as to attract business process outsourcing companies and the back office teams of large tech companies.

“Our vision as contained in the State Development Plan, 2021 – 2050 is for Ekiti State to be the fastest growing and wealthiest state in thirty years as we transform it into an economic hub and a knowledge zone in the long term.

“I wish the delegation a pleasant stay in our dear state.”
