CIPPON peace deal offers fresh start for printing industry, says minister

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has urged stakeholders in Nigeria’s printing industry to unite and collaborate to drive the sector’s growth and improve its global competitiveness.
Speaking on Tuesday at the Nigeria Print Industry Stakeholders’ Summit 2026 in Abuja, the minister said the resolution of the leadership crisis within the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON) offers an opportunity to reposition the industry for sustainable development.
The summit, themed “From Resolution to Renaissance,” was held at the Nikon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.
Idris said the industry should take advantage of the renewed atmosphere of peace to strengthen professional standards and enhance its contribution to the country’s economy.
“History has given you an opportunity to reposition this industry. Please seize it, work together, and let everyone support the leadership so that collectively you can move the profession forward,” he said.
The minister recalled that the dispute within CIPPON was one of the first issues brought to his attention after assuming office, noting that he opted for dialogue rather than prolonged litigation in resolving the crisis.
He described the printing industry as a sector with significant economic and employment potential, adding that a united industry would be better positioned to attract government support and policy interventions.
Idris assured stakeholders of the Federal Government’s continued support, saying the Ministry of Information and National Orientation would work with relevant institutions to strengthen professional standards, improve the operating environment and promote initiatives that would advance the industry.
