CityBoy Movement backs Tinubu for second term, cites youth programmes

The City Boy Movement says President Bola Tinubu’s youth-focused policies, particularly the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), have strengthened support among young Nigerians and will help secure his re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
The group made its position known on Tuesday during the second day of its National Retreat in Abuja, where members from across the country gathered under the theme, “Youth, Unity, Action,” to deliberate on youth mobilisation and political participation.
Speaking at the event, the Youth Leader of the City Boy Movement in Lagos State and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Kosofe Constituency, Dr Seriki Murtala, said the retreat was aimed at consolidating support for President Tinubu’s policies among young Nigerians.
He said initiatives such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), alongside other programmes focused on education, empowerment and youth development, had expanded opportunities for young people and strengthened confidence in the administration.
“The government of President Tinubu is centred around the development of Nigeria that our young people are going to benefit from,” Murtala said.
According to him, participants at the retreat discussed strategies for deepening youth engagement and sustaining support for policies they believe would improve the welfare and future of Nigerian youths.
Murtala said the movement was optimistic about the APC’s chances in the 2027 presidential election, arguing that the ruling party had learned important lessons from previous elections and was well-positioned to retain power.
The retreat attracted national and state directors of the City Boy Movement from across the federation, with discussions centred on strengthening grassroots mobilisation and increasing youth participation in the political process ahead of the next general election.
