CLACR slams Akure lawyer over alleged harassment of Aiyedatiwa government
By Boye Oyeyemi –
The Centre for Legal Advocacy for Citizens’ Rights (CLACR) has criticized Akure-based lawyer, Femi Emmanuel Emodamori, over what it described as his persistent harassment of Ondo State government officials through the courts.
The group alleged that Emodamori recently dragged the State Commissioner for Finance and the State House of Assembly to court over statutory allocations to local governments and the asset declarations of commissioners appointed by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
In a statement issued by its Executive Director, Ewonowo Gbenga Esq., CLACR described the lawyer’s actions as politically motivated rather than altruistic, insisting that he had “constituted himself into a diversionary agent of destabilization in Ondo State.”
The group further claimed that his legal maneuvers were being funded by “certain politically exposed persons, hell-bent on causing political instability in our dear Sunshine State.”
CLACR also questioned Emodamori’s consistency, asking why he failed to challenge the policies and excesses of past Ondo governments if his activism was genuine.
It further queried why he had never taken up similar issues in his home state, Kogi, suggesting that his silence in the past was bought with “unmerited patronage such as land allocations, briefs, and other privileges.”
According to the group, his inability to secure such benefits under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration explains his renewed activism, which they described as “a disguise for frustration and political bitterness.”
The statement reaffirmed CLACR’s commitment to protecting citizens’ rights but warned against what it called the misuse of the courts to pursue politically motivated agendas.
