Clinical City outclass United in dominant Manchester derby display

Manchester City delivered a masterclass performance to outclass Manchester United 3–0 in a one-sided derby at the Etihad Stadium, with Erling Haaland netting a brace and Phil Foden also on the scoresheet.
Pep Guardiola’s side returned from the international break looking to bounce back from consecutive league defeats, and they did so in emphatic fashion. City were clinical in attack, composed in possession, and utterly dominant against a United side that struggled to compete.
The opening goal came in the 18th minute after a dazzling run from Jeremy Doku, whose footwork on the left wing left the United defence trailing. The Belgian winger delivered a pinpoint cross for Phil Foden, who timed his run perfectly to head City into the lead.
City doubled their advantage early in the second half, with Doku once again at the heart of the move. His through ball found Haaland, who shrugged off Luke Shaw before lofting a delicate finish over Altay Bayindir in the 53rd minute.
Haaland, who had narrowly missed in the opening seconds of the match and later struck the post with an open goal, made no mistake on his next opportunity. In the 68th minute, he broke free from the halfway line and coolly slotted past Bayindir to seal the win.
The visitors failed to offer a significant threat throughout the contest, continuing their disappointing form in front of goal. United drop to 14th in the Premier League table, having registered just one win this season.
Meanwhile, City’s dominant derby display moves them up to eighth, sending a strong message as they look to reignite their title challenge.
