The 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season continued on Sunday with thrilling Matchday 4 encounters, headlined by former champions Enyimba FC’s emphatic away victory over Bayelsa United.
Enyimba, who had yet to hit top form this season, delivered a statement performance in Yenagoa, defeating Bayelsa United 2-0 at the Samson Siasia Stadium. The result marks a significant morale boost for the Aba-based side and positions them strongly heading into the next round of fixtures.
Elsewhere, Plateau United, Kun Khalifat, and Ikorodu City all recorded their first wins of the season, signaling a potential turnaround in their early-season form.
Plateau United overcame cup holders Remo Stars 2-0 in a solid display, while NPFL newcomers Kun Khalifat earned their maiden topflight victory with an impressive 3-1 win over El-Kanemi Warriors.
In Lagos, Ikorodu City secured a long-awaited first three points of the season, defeating Barau FC 2-0 in the final match of the day.
However, it was a weekend to forget for Shooting Stars (3SC) of Ibadan, who slumped to a 1-0 defeat against Rivers United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt. The result leaves 3SC bottom of the log with just two points from four matches, and mounting pressure on the coaching staff.
At the Umuahia Township Stadium, Abia Warriors edged Katsina United 1-0 to continue their steady form, while Kano Pillars narrowly defeated Enugu Rangers 1-0 in a fierce northern derby. Nasarawa United also secured a 1-0 win over Wikki Tourists, maintaining their strong start to the campaign.
Meanwhile, Kwara United shared the spoils with Warri Wolves in a goalless draw in Uzoro, highlighting defensive resilience from both sides.
With key teams now finding their rhythm and new entrants making their mark, the NPFL is shaping up for an intense and unpredictable season.
