Court remands 31-year-old man over theft in Ondo

A Chief Magistrate’s Court has remanded 31-year-old Daniel Adegoroye at the Olokuta Correctional Centre over an alleged theft of items valued at $500 and N30,000 each alongside N200,000 cash.
Adegoroye who was said to have committed the offence on February 28, 2026, at about 2:10 p.m. in Moferere area of Akurewas was arraigned by the Ondo State Police Command on a one-count charge bordering on theft.
The Police Prosecutor, Oniyere Taiwo, told the court that the defendant allegedly stole a Samsung Galaxy A49 said to be worth $500, an MP sound system valued at N30,000, and N200,000 cash belonging to one Sunday Ronke.
Presiding over the case, Olusola Olujobi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, while adding that the sureties must provide affidavits of means, passport photographs, proof of gainful employment, and verifiable addresses, with one of them required to be a house owner and must present receipt for utility bills.
However, the defendant was unable to perfect bail conditions and was subsequently remanded, with the case adjourned till April 15, 2026, for hearing.
