By Boye Oyeyemi –
An Akure Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of two men, Adam Iliayasu, 22, and Ibrahim Suleiman, 33, over the alleged theft of cows valued at N2 million.
The defendants were arraigned before Magistrate Damilola Sekoni on charges including conspiracy, cow theft, and conduct likely to breach public peace.
Prosecuting counsel, Adebayo Sulaiman, told the court that the offences occurred on January 8, 2026, around 4 p.m., at the Elegbeka area of Owo, along Ifon Road in Ondo State.
He alleged that the defendants, along with others still at large, unlawfully stole two cows belonging to one Adamu Abdullahi. The prosecutor added that the suspects resisted arrest and struggled with police officers, an action that could have caused a breach of the peace.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 249, 390(9), and 515 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. The prosecution sought an adjournment to study the case file and call witnesses.
Magistrate Sekoni granted bail of N500,000 each, with two sureties in like sum, but ordered the defendants remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre pending fulfilment of the bail conditions. The case was adjourned to February 2, 2026.
