Court stops execution of rulings against Ondo govt officials

The Ondo State High Court in Akure has granted the government’s request for a stay of execution in two cases involving the Commissioner for Finance, Mrs Omowumi Isaac, and the State House of Assembly.
Justice Sunday Olorundahunsi ordered that his earlier rulings of September 11, 2025, be suspended until the Court of Appeal decides the cases.
The judgements had favoured lawyer Mr Emodamori in suits filed against the commissioner, the Assembly, its speaker and clerk.
Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Dr Olukayode Ajulo (SAN) led the government’s legal team. He asked the court to stop the respondent from enforcing the rulings.
The judge granted the prayers, giving both the Finance Ministry and the Assembly a reprieve.
“There has never been, and there will never be, any instance where this government disregards a valid court order under my watch as Attorney General of Ondo State. The government of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is anchored on justice, fairness, and due process. It is an administration that believes firmly that the dignity of the courts must always be upheld, because respect for the law is the foundation of good governance,” Ajulo said.
After the proceedings, he praised the court and the respondent, reaffirming that the Aiyedatiwa administration would always uphold due process and the rule of law.
