COWLSO conference to host 3,000 women physically, open virtual participation

The 26th National Women Conference of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials, COWLSO, will accommodate 3,000 physical participants while offering unlimited virtual participation as part of efforts to make the annual gathering more accessible to women across Nigeria and beyond.
The first lady of Lagos State and COWLSO convener, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, disclosed this on Thursday while addressing journalists ahead of the conference, scheduled to hold from October 26 to 28 at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu said the conference would be held in a hybrid format, with physical participation costing N150,000 and virtual participation N50,000, while registration, which began September 15, would close October 15.
She said the conference, themed “Anchored for Purpose: Be the Blueprint,” would challenge women to consider the impact of their actions and leadership on their families, workplaces, communities and society.
According to her, the three-day event will bring together government officials, policymakers, professionals, entrepreneurs, academics, development practitioners, members of the diplomatic community, civil society groups, traditional and community leaders, young women and other stakeholders.
Sanwo-Olu also announced a series of activities ahead of the conference, including an Awareness Walk scheduled for October 10 and a pre-conference walk themed “Blueprint in Motion: From Vision to Action,” which will take participants through notable locations on Lagos Island, including Tafawa Balewa Square, the National Museum, Tinubu Square, the MUSON Centre and Eko Atlantic.
She said the conference would feature keynote lectures, panel sessions and presentations, with the traditional COWLSO Gala Night scheduled for the second day, while Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State and Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State have been invited as special guests of honour for the opening and closing ceremonies respectively.
Sanwo-Olu said the conference was not merely about bringing women together but about translating the ideas, relationships and knowledge gained into action, urging women to move from “vision to action, from intention to impact” and leave behind positive footprints for future generations.
