Cross River APC targets 1.5m votes for Tinubu in 2027

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State have resolved to mobilise no fewer than 1.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The resolution was adopted on Monday at a high-level stakeholders’ meeting convened by Governor Bassey Otu at the Calabar International Convention Centre, Calabar.
The meeting had in attendance the immediate past APC National Women Leader and Minister, Dr Betta Edu; members of the National Assembly from the state; the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly; party executives; and youth and women leaders, among other stakeholders.
Addressing participants, Governor Otu reaffirmed the state chapter’s alignment with the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda and announced plans to intensify grassroots mobilisation across all wards and local government areas to meet the 1.5 million vote target.
He also appealed to President Tinubu to support the reclamation of Cross River’s oil wells and the restoration of its full littoral status, urging the Federal Government to rely on verified reservoir coordinates and technical reports to validate the state’s oil-producing status.
The governor further called for the restoration and increase of federal appointments for qualified indigenes, noting that broader representation would deepen inclusion and strengthen grassroots support for federal policies and programmes.
In her remarks, Dr Edu emphasised the need for intensified grassroots engagement, inclusive participation and sustained voter education to consolidate previous gains ahead of the 2027 elections, while urging continued support for the President.
Senators and members of the House of Representatives from the state also pledged to strengthen mobilisation within their constituencies, reaffirming their commitment to delivering a decisive electoral mandate in 2027.
