Traditional drummers, chanters, trumpeters, and praise singers on Tuesday officially signed out from the residence of the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, to pave the way for the inauguration of a new monarch.
The group, Gbobaniyi Olubadan of Ibadanland, renowned for daily eulogies to the Olubadan and other dignitaries, performed their final praises at Olakulehin’s Alalubosa Estate home before departing.
The late monarch, from Ita Baale Ori Okiti in Ibadan North East, died on July 7 and was buried last Friday.
Gbobaniyi member, Mr. Taiwo Ademola Peter, confirmed the rite, describing it as part of their cultural duty.
Former Oyo State Governor, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, is the Olubadan-designate and will become the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. The Gbobaniyi are expected to resume at his Bodija residence once he returns to Ibadan.
