Dapo Abiodun celebrates Awujale of Ijebuland at 91

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Saturday joined dignitaries at the Ijebu-Ode palace of the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, to celebrate the monarch’s 91st birthday.
Oba Adetona, one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning traditional rulers, has spent over 60 years on the throne, earning widespread respect for his wisdom, integrity, and dedication to his people.
Governor Abiodun shared highlights of the celebration on his social media pages, describing the Awujale as “a national treasure and symbol of traditional excellence whose reign continues to inspire generations.”

“We are filled with immense joy and gratitude as we mark this extraordinary milestone in the life of a monarch whose reign has been defined by courage and unwavering dedication to the unity and progress of his people,” the Governor said.
He praised the monarch’s fearless advocacy for justice and good governance, noting that Oba Adetona’s leadership has made an indelible impact on the sociopolitical fabric of Nigeria.
Governor Abiodun also expressed the pride of Ogun State in hosting such a revered traditional figure, acknowledging the Awujale’s contributions to moral strength, cultural preservation, and national unity.
“On behalf of the government and people of Ogun State, we pray that the Almighty grants His Royal Majesty continued good health, strength, and peace,” he added.
The 91st birthday celebration drew family members, indigenes of Ijebuland, and guests from across the country to honour the Awujale’s enduring legacy.
