Davido hints at Gov Adeleke’s defection to APC in new song

By Tosin Brown –

Award-winning singer Davido has hinted at a possible defection of Governor Ademola Adeleke to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The singer and father of four made the subtle reference in a new, yet-to-be-titled song.

In a video currently trending online, Davido is heard singing about “leaving the umbrella for the broom,” suggesting that “a new broom will sweep better” — a possible allusion to the political symbols of the PDP and APC, respectively.

Davido is known to be very close to Governor Adeleke, who is his uncle.

Last month, the singer visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu alongside his father, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, and Governor Adeleke.

The lyrics have sparked speculation, fueling ongoing rumours that Governor Adeleke may be considering a move to the APC.
