Delta: Fuel tanker explosion claims lives, destroys banks

Four persons have been officially confirmed dead, following a horrifying petrol tanker explosion in Agbor, Delta State, on Sunday afternoon,
The tanker, which was allegedly carrying petrol, lost control, resulting in the incident along the old Lagos-Asaba Road, next to First Bank and Access Bank.
According to authorities in the state, four people were killed in the incident. Eyewitnesses however, reported that the explosion killed at least five people, while the police command confirmed that two people had died.
The tanker and surrounding buildings were quickly consumed by the rapidly spreading fire. The fire was so intense that people were running in all directions, an eyewitness said.
Also, First and Access banks were among the nearby structures severely damaged by the explosion.
Viral videos showed residents frantically running for their lives as the tanker and surrounding buildings were destroyed by the raging fire.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori responded to the tragedy with profound sadness, stating that four people were killed and three others were injured.
In a statement released by Sir Festus Ahon, his chief press secretary, the governor called the tragedy “horrible,” offered his sympathies to the relatives of the deceased, and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
