Delta Police begin clampdown on tinted vehicles Oct 2
The Delta State Police Command has announced it will begin a comprehensive enforcement of regulations regarding tinted car glasses from Thursday, October 2.
In a statement on Tuesday, Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Bright Edafe, said officers will be professional and observe the constitutional rights of citizens during the exercise, assuring there will be no tolerance for abuse.
According to SP Edafe, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, has “directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to supervise field operations closely and to ensure civility and full respect for human rights in all engagements”.
The police spokesman maintained that the ban on the illegal blowing of sirens, the use of revolving/strobe lights, and the concealing, defacing, or obstruction of vehicle number plates by individuals and some officials subsists.
The command urged drivers to always have in their possession important vehicle documentation, such as driver’s license, insurance, and proof of ownership, and to cooperate with policemen during stop-and-search operations.
