Desmond Elliot apologises to Gbajabiamila over political misunderstandings

Lagos lawmaker and Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot, has apologised to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, over any offence he may have caused during their political engagements.

Elliot made the apology on Friday during an appearance on TVC’s Your View, where he described Gbajabiamila as his political mentor and senior colleague.

The lawmaker said he learnt politics under Gbajabiamila’s guidance and acknowledged that misunderstandings and emotions may have contributed to tensions between them.

“I’m not saying, oh yes, media will come out, oh yes, Desmond begs again. Yes, because he’s my egbon. And I grew up learning everything I knew in politics through him,” Elliot said.

He added, “To err is human, to forgive is divine. So I’m sorry, my daddy, if I’ve offended you in any way”.

Elliot also apologised to whom he described as the “matriarch of Surulere,” saying he regretted any offence caused.

The apology follows political tensions linked to the Lagos State House of Assembly leadership crisis, during which Gbajabiamila disclosed that he nearly lost his position at the Presidency over allegations connected to Elliot’s political activities.

Despite the controversy, Elliot maintained that he remained committed to strengthening the party and delivering on his mandate to residents of Surulere.
