Despite US alert, FG maintains Abuja’s safety

The Federal Government has responded to the recent security advisory from the United States Embassy, which restricted staff and their families from visiting military and government facilities in Abuja, assuring that the capital remains safe for residents and visitors.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared that while it respects the right of foreign missions to issue travel advisories, Abuja continues to be secure for citizens, residents, and tourists.
Authorities emphasized that Nigeria’s security agencies are working tirelessly to maintain peace and have recorded substantial progress in detecting, preventing, and neutralizing potential threats in the Federal Capital Territory.
It noted that the U.S. advisory appears to stem from global security concerns and not from any immediate or specific threat within Abuja.
The government reassured diplomatic missions, investors, and development partners that there is no cause for alarm, and that efforts to strengthen national security remain a top priority.
Officials also reiterated Abuja’s status as one of the most secure capital cities in the world, citing increased intelligence efforts and operational readiness.
Citizens were encouraged to go about their daily activities without fear but remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious behavior to the appropriate authorities.
The Federal Government affirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the country, stressing that public safety remains paramount.
