Destiny Boy’s seizure video surfaces online, cause of death clarified
By Folashade Olorunfemi –
Following the death of popular Afropop singer Afeez Adeshina, widely known as Destiny Boy, videos have surfaced online showing one of his seizure episodes.
The footage shows Destiny Boy amid his friends during an outing, with them making efforts to revive him during a seizure. A friend close to him repeatedly slapped him while desperately calling him back to consciousness.
Destiny Boy mumbled incoherent words in response, spitting out foamy saliva, visibly weak and unable to help himself up.
The cause of Destiny Boy’s death remained unclear in the early hours following the announcement of his passing. After much public speculation, his mother, Mrs Saidah Adeshina, granted an interview to clarify the issue.
During the interview, Mrs Adeshina explained that her son died as a result of an illness called “Ogun Oru,” described as nocturnal warfare. It involves severe night-time disturbances traditionally attributed to demonic possession of the body and psyche during sleep.
The condition is believed to be treatable through traditional medical methods or spiritually, through prayer and rituals to exorcise the patient.
Destiny Boy’s death, which had earlier sparked rumours involving rituals and drug abuse, was clarified by his mother. She emphasised that he was not involved in any ritual and that his death was not due to drug use, contrary to circulating rumours.
The seizure video circulating online further supports his mother’s account, according to the interview.
