Dikko, Gusau inspect proposed NFF Hotel, training pitch site in Abuja

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, MON, on Wednesday, led the Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, on an inspection of the proposed site for the NFF Hotel and a new training pitch.
The site, located adjacent to the NFF Headquarters inside the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, is envisioned as a state-of-the-art accommodation facility designed specifically for Nigeria’s national football teams.
The proposed hotel, a priority project for the Gusau administration since it took office 28 months ago, aims to eliminate the significant expenses incurred by the NFF in accommodating national teams.
By reducing accommodation costs, the football-governing body plans to redirect funds toward more critical areas, such as nurturing local football talent and enhancing Nigeria’s football infrastructure.
During the site inspection, Mallam Dikko and NFF President Gusau assessed various aspects of the proposed location, including accessibility for players and support staff, security provisions, and proximity to essential training facilities.
Beyond site evaluation, discussions also covered the project’s timeline, budget considerations, and potential partnerships with private investors or corporate entities willing to support the initiative.
They were accompanied by top NFF officials, including General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi and Technical Director Coach Augustine Eguavoen, as well as key aides of the NSC Chairman, including Barr. Musa Amadu (former NFF General Secretary) and Mallam Salihu Abubakar.
The NFF National Teams Hotel project aligns with the broader mission of the NSC to promote and enhance sports development across Nigeria.
