The Ondo State chapter of the Democratic Leadership Alliance has affirmed American-based entrepreneur, Adebisi Olusoji, as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
Olusoji, an indigene of Osun State, emerged through a substitution primary conducted by the party in Akure on Thursday. His endorsement was secured through a voice vote by delegates at the exercise.
The Chairman of the DLA Electoral Committee and state chairman of the party, Oluwatosin Ayeni, said the exercise followed the withdrawal of the party’s initial presidential candidate, Barrister Samuel Memeh.
He said, “The substitution primary is in line with the constitution of the party and the Electoral Act 2026. It became necessary following the withdrawal of our former presidential candidate.”
Ayeni said the development represented an opportunity for the party to promote a fresh political direction, arguing that Nigerians had experienced the administrations of the APC and PDP.
“Nigerians have seen it all. Both APC and PDP have demonstrated their capacities and given us their best. It is time for a change,” he stated.
The DLA chairman said the party was determined to present itself as a credible alternative, adding that the affirmation exercise was being conducted across the states and at the national secretariat in Abuja.
“DLA is set to put the ruling party on its toes. We will constructively criticise any programme we believe does not serve the best interests of the people,” Ayeni added.
