The African Democratic Congress governorship candidate in Oyo State, Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, on Thursday held a closed-door meeting with a chieftain of the Allied Peoples Movement and grassroots politician, Alhaji Abdul-Rasheed Adebisi Olopoeyan, at his residence in the Basorun area of Ibadan.
Adegoke was accompanied to the meeting by the ADC Deputy National Women Leader, Southwest, Alhaja Kafilat Omolabake Olayiwola, popularly known as Aje-Iya.
The details of the meeting were not made public as both Adegoke and Olopoeyan declined to disclose the issues discussed when contacted by journalists.
However, the meeting is believed to be connected to political developments ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, where Adegoke is expected to contest against candidates from other major political parties.
Adegoke and Olopoeyan have a history of political association, having worked together during their days in the Peoples Democratic Party before later moving to the APM and ADC respectively.
Their meeting has therefore attracted attention amid increasing political realignments and consultations ahead of the 2027 elections in the state.
The development also comes against the backdrop of reported disagreements between Olopoeyan and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, over the emergence of candidates for the December 2026 local government elections.
It was gathered that Olopoeyan and Makinde are backing different candidates ahead of the local government poll, a development that could further shape political alliances and alignments in the state ahead of the 2027 general election.
