Dual carriageway, township roads put Ilesa in commercial spotlight, says Osun govt

As community endorses Adeleke for second term

The Osun State Government has explained that the construction of a 6.2-kilometre dual carriageway and 10 other township roads in Ilesa is aimed at stimulating industrial growth, expanding business hubs, and improving access across the ancient town.

Speaking during an assessment of the roads on Thursday, the Director of Highways, Engr. Moruf Ojebode, said the projects form part of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s infrastructure-driven agenda to reposition Ilesa as a major commercial and economic corridor in the state.

According to him, the improved road network, covering about 20 kilometres in total, has eased movement, enhanced access to markets and industrial clusters, and created a more enabling environment for investors and small-scale businesses.

Ojebode noted that Ilesa had never had a dual carriageway before, explaining that the 6.2-kilometre road stretches from the palace of the Owa-Obokun, through Imo—home to the International Brewery—to the Ilesa–Akure Expressway, complete with walkways and solar-powered streetlights.

“If you look at the geography of Ilesa, you will discover that the industrial section is along the road we have chosen. We have the International Brewery and other businesses located along this corridor. After the completion of this road, those areas and houses have transformed into companies and business hubs,” he said.

“That dual carriageway has put Ilesa in the limelight and developed the town further, bringing majestic upliftment to the ancient town. We have also completed about 10 other roads in the town, namely: Ademoroti, Ogbon Titun, Bonke, Ita Ofa, Atakunmosa Market, Imose, Adeti, Oke Ese, Ajimoko, and INEC roads.”

Meanwhile, community leaders commended the infrastructure interventions and endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term in office.

The Chairman of Ilesa West Local Government, Hon. Oladiti Aluko, urged residents to protect the roads, while Prince Adeyemi Adeniran said indigenes were united behind the governor.

Similarly, the Vice Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Abuja Park, Temitope Matthew, said the roads had improved operations for transport workers, pledging that they will vote massively for Adeleke in the 2026 governorship election.
