The Ondo State Police Command has intensified security operations ahead of the Easter celebrations, deploying additional personnel and tactical units across strategic locations to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, noting that the directive was issued by the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal.

According to the statement, the deployment covers worship centers, major highways, markets, recreational facilities and other public spaces, as part of measures to ensure a safe festive period.

The command said the operation was intelligence-driven and aimed at preventing criminal activities while guaranteeing a peaceful atmosphere before, during and after the celebrations.

It added that specialised units, including Tactical Teams, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit, Police Mobile Force and intelligence operatives, had been mobilised for both covert and overt operations across the state.

The statement noted that the move aligns with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to strengthen security nationwide during the Easter period.

The command further urged residents to go about their lawful activities without fear, assuring that adequate security measures had been put in place to protect lives and property.

It, however, called on members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements to the nearest police station, reiterating its commitment to ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free Easter celebration.
