The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, has deployed additional personnel across the state to ensure the safety of lives and property during the Easter festivities.

In a related development, the Command announced the arrest of 82 suspects in connection with various criminal offenses, along with the prosecution of 17 suspects in court between January and April 2025.

These updates were shared by State Commandant Augustine Padonu during the April edition of the Monthly Management Meeting, which was held at the Area “A” Command Headquarters in Iyaganku, Ibadan.

Commandant Padonu credited these achievements to the Corps’ strengthened collaboration with the Oyo State Government and other security stakeholders in addressing challenges such as illegal mining, farmer-herder conflicts, kidnapping, vandalism, and other forms of criminality that threaten peace and development in the state.

The management meeting was attended by top officials of the Command, including Heads of Departments (HODs), Heads of Units (HOUs), Area Commanders, Sectional Heads, Unit Commanders, and Divisional Officers. They gathered to discuss operational strategies, review activities across formations, and devise plans for improving security in the state.

In his address, the State Commandant reiterated the commitment of the Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, to the Corps’ core mandate of protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), and assured that the Oyo Command remains steadfast in fulfilling its responsibilities.

Commandant Padonu commended the dedication and efforts of officers and personnel across all formations and encouraged them to stay vigilant and committed to their duties.

In addition, he directed Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to ensure the prompt deployment of personnel for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). He emphasized the need for deployed personnel to maintain the highest levels of discipline, integrity, and professionalism throughout the examination period.
