Edo governor Okpebholo assures fair, credible APC guber primary in Osun

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

Edo State governor and chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary committee for the 2026 Osun governorship election, Monday Okpebholo, has assured that the party’s primary will be free, fair, and credible. He described the exercise as an affirmation conducted under the consensus model.

Okpebholo gave the assurance while addressing party stakeholders at the APC state secretariat in Osogbo, shortly after arriving in the state with the committee’s co-chairman, Ondo State governor Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

He explained that the meeting was held to brief party leaders on the committee’s arrival and to outline the modalities for the primary scheduled for Saturday, December 13.

According to the Edo governor, 1,660 delegates are expected to converge at the venue to affirm the party’s candidate. He emphasised that the process would be transparent and strictly guided by proper accreditation to ensure accountability and credibility.

Okpebholo said the gathering reflected the party’s collective resolve to strengthen its internal processes and reclaim Osun State, which he described as a progressive state.

He urged party leaders and members to remain united and give full cooperation to the committee, warning that internal divisions could undermine the party’s chances in the forthcoming election.

The governor also commended APC leaders in the state for sustaining the party while in opposition and reiterated that the primary would be acceptable to all stakeholders.

Earlier, the APC state chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal, praised party leaders and members for their commitment and dedication, reaffirming the party’s readiness to work towards victory in the 2026 Osun governorship election.
