Ekiti LCDA chairman denies plot to impose monarch on Ijesa-Isu

By Boye Oyeyemi –
The Chairman of Kajola Local Council Development Area, Hon. Ojo Ajayi, has dismissed allegations that he is involved in a plan to impose a monarch on Ijesa-Isu Ekiti in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
Ajayi was reacting to claims by an elder, Omoyele Ajobiewe, that Governor Biodun Oyebanji, a former deputy governor, Chief Paul Olatunde Alabi, and himself were plotting to enthrone David Oluwasegun Ateji as monarch.
Addressing journalists on Friday, the council chairman described the allegation as false and an attempt to blackmail him and the Ekiti State Government.
He warned those making the claims to desist, noting that such actions could attract legal consequences if they persist.
Ajayi said the state government was not involved in the traditional process, adding that it had continued to support the development of Ijesa-Isu.
He stressed that the kingmakers alone had the right to choose a monarch and that no one had subjected them to pressure or manipulation.
He urged those making statements capable of destabilising peace in the community to desist and reaffirmed his support for the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
“The allegation that I and the Ekiti State Government want to impose a monarch is not true. It is all lies and a figment of their imagination. The government is not involved in the traditional process, as only the kingmakers have the right to choose, and nobody has put them under duress to manipulate the process,” he said.
