Edo govt takes clean environment campaign to Aduwawa market, rewards cleanliness

The Edo State Waste Management Board (EWMB), in collaboration with the EWMB Academy, has taken its environmental awareness campaign to Aduwawa Market in Uhunmwode Local Government Area of the state, reinforcing the state government’s commitment to promoting cleaner, healthier and more environmentally responsible communities.
The Managing Director of EWMB, Amb. Lucky Enehita-Inegbenehi, said the outreach was part of the EWMB Academy’s grassroots environmental education initiative, designed to sensitise market stakeholders on the importance of maintaining clean surroundings and adopting responsible waste management practices.

During the exercise, market stakeholders were educated on proper waste disposal, the importance of patronising approved waste management channels and the need to make environmental cleanliness a shared responsibility.
The campaign emphasised that maintaining a clean environment requires the collective commitment of individuals, businesses, market associations and communities.
As part of the outreach, rewards were presented to owners of shops and market spaces who demonstrated commendable commitment to cleanliness and proper waste management.
The initiative highlighted the importance of recognising and encouraging positive environmental behaviour, reinforcing the message that environmental responsibility should not only be enforced but also acknowledged and rewarded.

From schools to markets and across different segments of society, the EWMB Academy continues to promote the message that a cleaner Edo State begins with the responsible actions of every resident.
The outreach further underscored the importance of continuous environmental education in changing attitudes and building a culture of responsible waste management, particularly at the grassroots.
