EFCC arrests 127 suspected “Yahoo” boys in Akure nightclubs
Agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) Ibadan Zonal Directorate have taken one hundred and twenty-seven (127) suspected online scammers into custody in Ondo State.
A statement by the Commission indicated that the suspects were taken into custody during an early-morning sting operation on Saturday, June 8, 2024, during a “Yahoo Party” hosted concurrently in the Signature and Abah Clubs, in Akure, Ondo State.
The EFCC added that the supposed celebration was originally planned for Wednesday, June 5, 2024, but was subsequently rescheduled for Saturday to avoid interference with the EFCC’s security and intelligence systems.
According to the EFCC, the suspects have provided the Directorate’s investigators with helpful information.
Ten exotic automobiles, phones, laptops, motorcycles, wristwatches, and other damning documents are among the items that were found on them.
The statement added that charges will be brought against them in court upon the completion of investigations.
