EFCC boss urges journalists to demonstrate professionalism in financial crimes reporting

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has called on media practitioners to demonstrate professionalism, accuracy and ethical responsibility in reporting economic and financial crimes.

Olukoyede, who was represented by the Head, Public Affairs, Lagos Zonal Directorate 1, Ayo Oyewole, made the call in a paper titled: “Reporting Economic and Financial Crimes: Relevant Legal Frameworks and Professional Best Practices”, delivered during a capacity-building workshop organised by Seplat Energy Plc in Lagos.

The EFCC Boss said the task of reporting financial crimes was beyond routine journalism.

He added, “it is an act of citizenship that reinforces the pillars of justice, deters abuse of power, and upholds public trust”.
