The Asiwaju Musulumi of Southwest, Edo, and Delta States, Chief Khamis Tunde Badmus, has called on President Bola Tinubu and governors across the Southwest to strive to fulfill their electoral promises.
Badmus, who spoke with journalists shortly after observing the two-rakat prayer at the Osogbo Central Eid prayer ground, emphasized that striving to deliver on promises attracts rewards from Almighty Allah.
He noted that the Eid-el-Kabir celebration is rooted in the act of fulfilling promises, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering commitment to God.
The Islamic leader stressed that when governments at various levels deliver on their promises, life improves for the general populace. He therefore urged political leaders to emulate Prophet Ibrahim by ensuring they fulfill their promises, regardless of the obstacles they face.
His words: “The message of the Eid we are celebrating today centres around fulfilling promises. If you make promises to God or to anyone as an individual, you should make sure that such promises are fulfilled. If you fulfill your promises, the rewards will be multiplied a thousandfold.
“We know that individual promises are often broken, but those made by the government are key to improving the lives of the masses—whether at the local, state, or federal level.
“We understand that fulfilling promises can sometimes be difficult, but like Prophet Ibrahim, our public officials should overcome the barriers to ensure that their electoral pledges become reality.”
Badmus added that the removal of fuel subsidies has significantly increased the revenue available to various levels of government, stressing that this should translate into tangible development
