…urges security agencies to ensure safety

The Ekiti State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has assured party members and aspirants of a free, fair, and transparent primary election ahead of the June 20, 2026, governorship poll.

The party’s chairman, Ilesanmi Omolayo, who gave the assurance, said the primary, slated for November 6, would be conducted through the direct mode across the 177 wards in the state.

He appealed to security agencies to provide adequate protection for party members and venues during the exercise to prevent a repeat of the October 21 attack on the party’s state secretariat in Ado Ekiti by hoodlums.

Omolayo disclosed that five aspirants, former Deputy Governor Prof. Kolapo Olusola-Eleka; former High Commissioner to Canada, Dare Bejide; businessman and philanthropist, Apostle David Adesua; ICT expert, Emmanuel Oluwayose; and lawyer, Femi Adegbite, had obtained the party’s nomination and expression of interest forms.

He said, “Five aspirants have obtained the Ekiti ADC nomination forms. All of them are preparing for the primary election. Screening for the five aspirants will be held on November 3, while the primary election is slated for November 6.”

Omolayo reaffirmed that the ADC would provide a level playing field for all aspirants, noting that the exercise would serve as a model for internal democracy and transparency in party politics.
