Ekiti 2026: APC targets 500,000 votes for Governor Oyebanji’s re-election

The Senate Leader and Chairman of the Ekiti State 2026 Governorship Campaign Council, Opeyemi Bamidele, has disclosed that the council is adopting a long-term strategy that goes beyond the June 20 governorship poll.
Bamidele revealed that the campaign is designed to be inclusive, transparent, and result-driven, with a target of securing at least 500,000 votes for Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti after a council meeting on Wednesday, the Senate Leader said the plan is not only to win the election but to position the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He stated that the campaign would combine political mobilisation with activities aimed at energising voters across the state, while also preparing the electorate for future contests, including presidential and legislative polls.
Bamidele expressed confidence in Oyebanji’s performance, noting that the administration’s achievements would serve as a major strength in attracting voter support during the election.
He added that the campaign council was carefully constituted to ensure broad representation and effective grassroots penetration across all parts of the state.
According to him, the council will focus on issue-based engagement, showcasing the governor’s record while presenting plans that address the needs of the people.
In his remarks, Oyebanji commended the council’s efforts so far, while the Director-General, Cyril Fasuyi, said “anything short of 500,000 votes would fall below expectations,” stressing that quality mobilisation structures had been deployed across all wards and Local Government Areas.
