Ekiti 2026: Babalola takes ‘South agenda’ to Aregbesola

By Boye Oyeyemi –

Frontline governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Otunba Olumuyiwa Babalola, has taken his consultation to a new height with a visit to former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, in Abuja.

Babalola, who is running on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), used the meeting to brief the former Osun governor and ADC National Secretary about his ambition ahead of the 2026 polls.

He told Aregbesola that his aspiration was rooted in equity and justice, particularly for the people of Ekiti South, who he said are yet to produce a governor since the state was created.

Babalola outlined his blueprint for education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, infrastructure renewal and technology-driven opportunities for young innovators.

He also pledged monthly stipends for unemployed youths and empowerment initiatives for women.

In his response, Aregbesola lauded Babalola’s courage and urged him to pursue his ambition with resilience, grassroots mobilisation and a unifying spirit across zones.

Speaking after the meeting, Babalola stressed that his agenda goes beyond zoning.

“For 27 years, Ekiti South has never produced a governor. This is not just about rotation. It is about justice, balance, and unleashing new energy for development. My discussion with Ogbeni Aregbesola has reinforced the need for visionary leadership rooted in fairness and people-driven governance.”
