President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, on her election as Vice-President of Airports Council International (ACI) Africa.
Kuku’s election was ratified at the 34th ACI Africa General Assembly, held in Lusaka, Zambia, and concluded on Friday, September 19, 2025.
ACI, the global trade body representing airports worldwide, develops industry standards, policies, and best practices for safe and efficient operations. Founded in 1991, the organization oversees more than 2,000 airports across 170 countries and territories.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended the FAAN chief for her commitment and leadership in advancing Nigeria’s aviation sector, noting that her recognition at the international level underscores the progress being made in air transport management in the country.
The President also highlighted Kuku’s previous role as Regional Advisor for Africa, which paved the way for her current position as a permanent member of the ACI World Governing Board.
Tinubu said Kuku’s election reflects Nigeria’s growing influence in global aviation and reaffirms the government’s commitment to making the nation’s airports safer and more efficient.
