Ekiti 2026: Parties to pay N5m each for campaign adverts

The Ekiti State Signage and Advertisement Agency has announced that political parties participating in the June 20, 2026 governorship election will pay a total of N60m as campaign signage and advertisement fees.

The agency’s Director-General, Mr Adebisi Adesua, said each of the 12 parties is required to pay N5m before displaying posters or other campaign materials anywhere in the state.

Adesua disclosed this on Wednesday during a simulcast programme, Ekiti Today, explaining that the enforcement would cover billboards, streetlight poles, posters and vehicle branding, in line with existing state laws.

He explained that the policy is aimed at curbing illegal signage and promoting orderliness, adding that the agency was created to ensure outdoor advertisements are safe, aesthetically pleasing and supportive of urban development.

According to him, the fee covers the entire campaign period across all local governments, wards and Local Council Development Areas, and is designed to ensure fairness in the regulation of political branding.

Adesua said compliance has been encouraging, noting that the All Progressives Congress and some other parties have already paid, while assuring stakeholders of fair and humane enforcement.

He warned that defaulters risk confiscation of campaign materials and prosecution, stressing that unapproved signage in restricted areas would be removed, with offenders required to pay double the fee before retrieval.
