Ondo palace warns public against calling monarch ‘bro’, ‘blood’

The palace of the Arujale-Ojime of Okeluse Kingdom in Ondo State has warned members of the public to desist from addressing the monarch with casual or disrespectful terms.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Chief of Staff to the monarch, Prince Adefemi Olorunfemi, said the traditional ruler must be addressed strictly as His Royal Majesty at all times.
He said some individuals had been referring to the 22-year-old monarch as “bro” or “blood”, describing such conduct as inappropriate and unacceptable.
Olorunfemi stressed that the age of the monarch did not diminish the dignity of the throne, noting that respect for traditional authority remained non-negotiable.
According to the palace, continued disregard for proper modes of address would attract decisive action, warning that the king’s calm disposition should not be mistaken for weakness.
The palace urged residents of Okeluse Kingdom and the general public to uphold Yoruba cultural values by according due respect to the throne.
Oba Oloyede Adekoya Akinghare II ascended the throne at the age of 16 following the death of his father and was subsequently approved by the Ondo State Government.
