Flamingos’ World Cup victory makes Nigeria, Africa proud, Oluremi Tinubu says

First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has congratulated the Flamingos on their historic victory at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, describing their triumph as a testament to resilience, commitment and team spirit.
The Flamingos made history as the first African women’s team to win the tournament after defeating Japan 2-1 in Saturday’s final in Rabat, Morocco.
In a congratulatory message, on Saturday Mrs Tinubu said the team overcame a difficult start to win six consecutive matches on their way to lifting the trophy.
“Your path to victory was not an easy one. You shrugged off your shaky start and took on the world, winning six matches in a row on your way to the golden trophy,” she said.
The First Lady said the achievement had placed Nigeria and Africa at the pinnacle of women’s football globally.
She added that the team’s dedication, hard work and unity had once again made Nigeria a source of pride on the international stage.
Mrs Tinubu also congratulated the head coach and the entire technical crew for their contributions to the historic achievement.
