Kelechi Iheanacho returned to the scoresheet on Friday evening, scoring against Antalyaspor in Bursaspor’s TFF 1. Lig encounter. However, his goal was not enough to secure victory as the Green-Whites were held to a 1-1 draw.

Having seen his remarkable scoring streak end in the previous outing, the Nigerian international wasted no time getting back among the goals, underlining his importance to the club’s promotion campaign.

The Super Eagles forward had made history in Turkish football by scoring in 12 consecutive league matches before his run was halted against Bandırmaspor, where he failed to find the net.

However, the former Leicester City striker bounced back against Antalyaspor, putting Bursaspor ahead in the 26th minute.

Amine Boutrah produced an impressive run down the left flank, beating his marker before picking out Iheanacho’s intelligent movement inside the penalty area.

The midfielder delivered a perfectly timed pass, allowing the Nigerian forward to finish with a simple tap-in.

The goal took Iheanacho’s tally to 17 in 14 appearances for the Pride of Bursa, while his overall goal contributions rose to 21, including four assists.

Bursaspor’s lead, however, lasted only until the closing stages of the first half, when an own goal by Tural Bayramov restored parity for Antalyaspor. Neither side could find a winner after the break, forcing the Green-Whites to settle for a point instead of the three they had hoped to secure.

Despite dropping points, Iheanacho and his teammates remain top of the league table with 32 points, although their position could change depending on the outcome of Kayserispor’s match on Saturday.
