Ekiti begins full implementation of NAGS-AP programme

Ekiti State Government has commenced the full implementation of the National Agricultural Growth Scheme and Agro Pocket (NAGS-AP) programme, an initiative of the President Bola Tinubu led Federal Government designed to boost Agricultural production, improve food security and empower farmers across the country.

This State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade who made this known in statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti said the commencement of the programme in the State was sequel to the State Government’s meeting the requirements for the takeoff of the programme including the inauguration of State Working Committee,

He noted that the State Government’s proactive moves already  have the desired effect  as highly subsidized agro-chemicals and  other inputs under the Programme have started arriving the State for Ekiti farmers .

Boluwade disclosed that 10 redemption centers for distribution of agric inputs have been established in strategic locations across  the State noting that  the one for  Moba/Ilejemeje located at Ikosu Town has become operational while  those in Ado-Ekiti/SouthWest, Ayekire, Oye/Ido Osi, Efon/Ekiti West, Ijero, Emure, Ikere/Ise Orun, Ikole/Ekiti East and Irepodun/Ifelodun will be opened  in the coming days

According to the Commissioner, Fertilizers including Urea, SSP, NPK liquid fertilizer have been supplied to the Moba/Ilejemeje redemption center alongside agro chemicals including 100% selective herbicide, 100% selective 1st emergence and 100% insecticides as well as 10KG bags of  maize seeds  and cassava stems.

Boluwade reiterated the commitment of the federal government to 75per cent cost of the aforementioned items while farmers will contribute just 25per cent.

He urged interested farmers in the Moba/Ilemeje Axis to visit the  redemption centre  located at Ikosu town hall  for their  inputs or call the  officer in charge, Abolaji Olufemi  on 08024811866.
