Ekiti dissolves Okada riders’ executives, names caretaker committee

The Ekiti State Government has dissolved the executive councils of the Okada Riders Association across the state and constituted a 10-member caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of the association.

The dissolution took immediate effect following a recommendation by the association’s Board of Trustees, according to a statement issued by the state Commissioner for Transportation, K.K. Ajobiewe.

The caretaker committee is headed by Kunle Asaolu as chairman, while Adelegan Olowuro Sunday serves as deputy chairman and Alade Gbenga as secretary.

Other members of the committee are Saka Salami, Ajibade Ojo, Ademola Omotuyi, Ayodeji Jegede, Lukman Saka, Joseph Emmanuel, Oloruntola Idowu and Agboola Emmanuel.

According to the statement, the committee was constituted to manage the association’s affairs following the dissolution of the existing leadership structure.

The government added that the caretaker committee would remain in charge pending further directives from the state government.

Meanwhile, the committee is scheduled to be inaugurated on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Ministry of Transportation, Old Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti.

The inauguration is scheduled for 10 a.m., the statement added.
