The Ekiti State Council of Elders has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his re-election, describing his victory in the June 20 governorship election as a reflection of the confidence reposed in him by the people of the state.
The council also commended the governor’s performance during his first term, expressing optimism that his second tenure would consolidate the developmental strides already recorded across the state.
In a congratulatory letter dated June 25, the elders said Oyebanji’s administration had delivered tangible results in key sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare and public service welfare. The letter was signed by the council’s President, Prof. Joseph Oluwasanmi, and Secretary, Elder Niyi Ajibulu.
Speaking on the letter in Ado Ekiti on Monday, Ajibulu said the council was pleased with the governor’s leadership and the progress made since he assumed office.
“The elders are delighted that your first term witnessed remarkable developments. We are confident that your second term will further strengthen your commitment to the growth and development of Ekiti State,” the letter stated.
The council also highlighted the expansion of road infrastructure, youth empowerment through agriculture, and support for women engaged in small-scale businesses as some of the administration’s notable achievements.
It also praised the governor for improving the welfare of civil servants and pensioners while enhancing healthcare delivery, noting that elderly residents had benefited directly from many of the government’s programmes.
The elders further commended Oyebanji for maintaining regular engagement with the council and attributed the peaceful conduct of the governorship election to his political maturity and inclusive style of leadership.
