Ekiti lawmaker rejects APC House of Reps primary result, alleges irregularities

A member of the House of Representatives representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II, Biodun Omoleye, has rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress primary election conducted in the constituency.

Omoleye alleged that the exercise was marred by widespread irregularities, intimidation and voter suppression, which he claimed undermined the wishes of party members.

In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Monday by his Media Director, Gloria Femi-Ige, the lawmaker called on the leadership of the APC to investigate the conduct of the primary election.

He warned that allowing the result to stand without proper scrutiny could damage the credibility of the party’s internal democratic process.

Describing the exercise as flawed, Omoleye alleged that some of his supporters were harassed and denied the opportunity to participate in the election across several wards.

He further claimed that electoral materials and figures were manipulated in favour of a predetermined outcome, while many party members were allegedly threatened and dispersed from polling areas.

The federal lawmaker vowed to challenge the outcome through constitutional means, insisting that the mandate of his supporters was stolen during the exercise.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee in Ekiti State, Banjo Adedoyin, had announced that Oladapo Karounwi won the primary with 6,573 votes, while Omoleye polled 1,412 votes.
