Ekiti monarch seeks urgent government intervention on roads, infrastructure

The traditional ruler of Ise-Ekiti, Oba Adetunji David Ajayi (PhD), has appealed to the government to urgently address infrastructure challenges confronting the community.
He said the poor state of several internal and access roads in the town was hindering movement, economic activities, and the safety of residents.
The monarch made the appeal while addressing journalists during a press briefing held to herald the annual Ojoaduse Festival in Ise/Orun Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
Oba Ajayi also stressed the need for the upgrading of public facilities, including health centres, schools, water supply systems, electricity infrastructure, drainage, and sanitation.
“While appreciating ongoing efforts by government at various levels, I must, on behalf of my people, make a strong and respectful appeal for increased government intervention in critical areas affecting the welfare and growth of Ise-Ekiti.
“The condition of several internal and access roads within Ise-Ekiti remains a major concern. Good road infrastructure is vital for economic activities, ease of transportation, the safety of residents, and the successful hosting of cultural events such as Ojoaduse.
“We appeal to the relevant state and federal authorities to prioritise the construction and rehabilitation of our town roads to improve connectivity and stimulate local development.”
He explained that improved infrastructure would enhance living standards, attract investment, and help curb rural-urban migration in the area.
The monarch described the Ojoaduse Festival as a core cultural heritage of Ise-Ekiti and said dignitaries, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, senators, and other federal lawmakers, are expected at the event.
