Ekiti Poll: Accord’s Falegan denies agreeing to step down for Oyebanji

By Boye Oyeyemi

The governorship candidate of the Accord Party in Ekiti State, Opeyemi David Falegan, has denied claims of negotiating to step down for Governor Biodun Oyebanji ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

His position was contained in a statement issued by his campaign spokesman, Ajayi Adewale Victor.

Victor disclosed that the candidate had never entered into discussions or negotiations to relinquish the party’s ticket in favour of Oyebanji’s second-term bid, noting that the rumour circulating in some political circles and on social media are false, misleading and malicious.

He maintained that Opeyemi David Falegan remained committed to the mandate given to him by party members and supporters, adding that Falegan’s ambition was driven by a desire to offer credible leadership and a fresh direction for Ekiti State.

The spokesperson therefore urged residents and supporters across the state to ignore the rumours and remain focused on the campaign’s vision for change.
