Pandemonium broke out in the Atikankan area of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Sunday after angry youths set ablaze a luxury vehicle allegedly owned by a suspected internet fraudster.
The incident followed a road crash in which the car reportedly knocked down a meat seller operating around the busy Atikankan junction.
Eyewitnesses said the vehicle was speeding from the Ijigbo axis when it veered off and struck the trader at the roadside.
The impact reportedly left one of the victim’s legs severely injured, triggering panic and anger among residents.
Youths in the area allegedly accosted the driver and another occupant of the vehicle as tensions escalated.
Moments later, the mob reportedly poured fuel on the car and set it on fire, destroying it completely.
The suspect was later rescued and handed over to security operatives, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
