Eno receives first batch of CNG buses for Akwa Ibom mass transit

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has received the first batch of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses procured by his administration, describing the development as a milestone in efforts to transform the state’s transportation system.
Speaking on Monday after inspecting the buses, Eno said the 20 vehicles delivered are part of the 50 ordered by the state government to provide safer, easier and more efficient transportation services across the 31 local government areas of Akwa Ibom.
The governor commended the Ministry of Transport, the contractor, the military and other stakeholders for ensuring the successful delivery of the buses, adding that the next phase of the project would involve completing bus terminal facilities, installing vehicle tracking devices and introducing a modern ticketing system.
Eno described the project as another indication that his administration’s infrastructure programmes are beginning to yield visible results, urging residents to remain confident in the government’s development agenda.

“Meaningful development requires patience, planning and consistent execution,” the governor said, while congratulating the Ministry of Transport and the people of the state on what he described as a significant milestone.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Anthony Luke, praised the governor for his vision and commitment to repositioning the state’s transport sector. He said the arrival of the buses demonstrated the administration’s determination to improve the welfare of residents through enhanced public transportation.
Other government officials present at the event included the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; the Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Adviser to the Governor, Mr. Aniefiok Johnson; the Managing Director of Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP), Mr. Imo-Abasi Jacob; the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Entrepreneurial Development, Mr. Ime Uwah; and other senior government officials.
